We give customers what they need to make secure online purchase decisions around the office and at home: It was with this idea and a lot of pioneering spirit that Robin Behlau and Mario Kohle founded “Käuferportal” in 2008. In just ten years, as befits the name, the Aroundhome start-up became Germany's largest broker of products and services around the home.
Since 2021, under the leadership of Moritz Kothe, the company, with its 300 employees, has been breaking new ground in terms of service, individual consulting and the brokerage of selected, regional specialist companies with the aim of finding the right match between customers and those specialist firms.
What drives us: The desire of home owners to make the right decisions in large and complex projects in their homes. After all, although owning a property means independence, maintaining it is a big commitment in terms of responsibility, costs, and time.

My goal is to position Aroundhome in such a way that our actions and all our decisions are aligned with our customers and their needs at all times. It’s important to me that we build on our existing strengths and actively develop our team and organization. At the same time, I’d like to promote a culture in which, alongside customer orientation, transparency and personal responsibility are lived out every single day. At the end of the day, it’s the people working there who make the difference between a merely good and a sensational company. “You’re only as good as the people you hire” – that’s my firm conviction.
Hamburg-born Moritz Kothe has been Chief Executive Officer at Aroundhome since April 2021. From 2016 to 2021, he worked as CEO at the Boston, USA, and Hamburg offices of kununu, which he developed into Europe’s leading employer rating portal. Prior to that, he held leading positions with the professional networking platform Xing and the German retailer Tchibo, among others.
As CFO, I see myself as a strategic business partner to the operational management team with a focus on growth, employee development, and entrepreneurship. My goal is to work with my team to create sustainable values for Aroundhome and achieve the defined corporate goals using the right key figures. I see my task as a manager to build up and develop high-performance and successful commercial and operational teams.
Thomas Bruns has been a Director and Chief Financial Officer of Aroundhome since September 2021. For the previous 10 years, he worked as a member of the board and CFO of the listed company MyHammer, in which capacity he succeeded in increasing the company’s value from under € 10 million to over € 160 million.
My team and I are building a next-generation technology platform at Aroundhome that will offer our users and partners a first-class service. Our passion is for a simple and lean software architecture and, with it, the satisfaction of developers, data and PaaS. I’m a strong advocate of the leader-leader model and agile ways of working, along the lines of: “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” (Michael Jordan).
Portuguese-born Hélder Martins has been Chief Technology Officer at Aroundhome since 2021. He developed his first software at the age of 15 and has been leading technology teams at kununu and Paddy Power Betfair, among other places, since 2001. During his time as Managing Director and Head of Technology at Paddy Power Betfair, he won several national “Best Place to Work” awards.
As the person responsible for the business and sales area, the focus of my actions is on our partners. It’s particularly important to me to work with them in the long term and for us to grow together. We work every day with a strong sales team to convince our partners of the benefits of our product and bring about the perfect match with our customers.
As Chief Sales Officer, Yvonne Rattay has been responsible for the strategic realignment of sales at Aroundhome since June 2021. She can look back on 25 years of sales experience, including time spent as Vice President Internal Sales at Visable and in various sales management positions at Tchibo. Between 2010 and 2014, the Hamburg native ran her own company, Loveyy GmbH, a trading company for children’s equipment.
We’re developing Aroundhome into Germany’s largest online broker for products and services around the house. As a CPO, it therefore follows that my interests range from technology to design to the “art” of getting things done. My guiding principle is this: Whatever the problem, be part of the solution.
Patrick Roelofs complements the management at Aroundhome as Chief Product Officer. Prior to that, he was Vice President Product & UX at Lotto24 AG (part of the ZEAL Group) and spent more than five years as Director Product at XING.com. There he developed and managed attractive product solutions and profitable new business areas in both the B2C and B2B sectors.
Yvonne Rattay (CSO), Patrick Roelofs (CPO), Thomas Bruns (CFO) and Hélder Martins (CTO) round off the new management team at Aroundhome.
The company moves to Potsdamer Platz.
Mario Kohle joins the Advisory Board, Behlau remains as sole CEO.
